Sports and Recreation Facilities 

Department of Sports and Recreation manages several facilities – the Dr. Betty L. Siegel Student Recreation and Activities Center on the ÈâÈ⴫ý campus, the Owls Nest and The Perch at the KSU Sports and Recreation Park and the Recreation and Wellness Center on the Marietta campus.

Each facility provides programs and services for the KSU community. Drop-in sports and activities are available for members such as basketball, volleyball, badminton, pickleball, racquetball, indoor soccer, sand volleyball, outdoor soccer, tennis, etc.

Facility rules, signage, and guidelines are designed for the protection of members, employees, and facilities. The expectation for each user is to be respectful of others while participating in offered programs and utilizing facilities. Users may not engage in verbal or physical abuse of employees or other facility/program users.

The Department of Sports and Recreation reserves the right to ask patrons to leave the facility and/or deny future facility/program access for rule violations. Violations may require the patron(s) to meet with department staff prior to further access to recreation facilities or participation in department programs. Staff may also refer the patron to Student Conduct & Academic Integrity for more investigation or discipline.

The Student Recreation Center on the Marietta campus opened in 1996. The facility provides opportunities for members to drop-in for sport and fitness activities. Amenities are listed below.

The Owls Nest located at the KSU Sports and Entertainment Park is home to the club sports and intramural sports programs. It offers a 16,000 square foot training facility for more than 1500 club sport athletes. There are also two state-of-the-art synthetic turf fields available for club and intramural sport competitions and drop-in play for KSU student use. The fields are equipped for sports such as soccer, lacrosse, flag football, and ultimate frisbee. Club Sport competitions are also held on a third field equipped with rugby goal posts and is located near the Fifth Third Bank Stadium.

The Perch located at the KSU Sports and Entertainment Park consists of four state-of-the-art synthetic turf fields and one natural turf field that host several competitions for intramural and club sports each year as well as drop-in play for KSU students. In addition to the fields, The Perch has four sand volleyball courts and a .93 mile walk/jog/run trail around a 9 acre lake which host several events for student organizations and the KSU community such as 5K races and sport tournaments.

The Perch FAQs

  • Yes, Field 2 is available to non-club sport student athletes for recreational student/faculty/staff use with a valid KSU Sports and Recreation membership.

    If you do not have a KSU Sports and Recreation membership you must purchase a Sports Park Day Pass, which may be purchased at the Dr. Betty L. Siegel Student Recreation and Activities Center. You must also purchase a Day Pass for your guest, who must be accompanied by a KSU Affiliate.  

  • Yes. Bikes, roller blades, and skateboards are permitted on the trail. Please use extreme caution and be respectful of other patrons using the trail. No unauthorized motor vehicles are permitted.
  • No. Fishing and all other water activities are strictly prohibited on the lake. 
  • Yes. Please contact our Facilities Coordinator at 470-578-3291 for more information and details. 
  • Pets are permitted on the walk/jog/run trail as long as the pet is on a leash. Pets are not permitted at the synthetic turf facilities.
