Join the ZMA! Student Assistantships | Museum Attendants

On an as-needed basis, the Zuckerman Museum of Art will send out a call for student assistantships. These paid positions are a great way to gain experience in public service, administration, and the museum field as you earn your degree. ÈâÈ⴫ý State University students from any academic concentration are welcome to apply.

Responsibilities include but are not restricted to: 
Aiding with and overseeing the museum’s daily operations including opening and closing the galleries; monitoring the art work and exhibitions during operating hours; welcoming and guiding museum guests; assisting with special programming and events; performing administrative tasks and research; conducting special tours; and assisting with exhibition installation and/or de-installation.

Applicants must be currently enrolled at ÈâÈ⴫ý, meet KSU’s Human Resources requirements for a position, and be in good academic standing. Selected applicants will be asked to consent to a criminal background check and follow KSU’s student employment guidelines.

Application Deadlines:

Fall semester internship (August-December): March 31st 
Notification: No later than April 30th 

Spring semester internship (January-May): October 1st 
Notification: No later than October 31st 

Materials submitted past the deadline will not be accepted. An interview will be required for each position.

Internship Program

The Zuckerman Museum of Art offers competitive internships for academic credit for undergrad and graduate students. Interns will gain practical, real world experience with the inner workings of a dynamic, contemporary art museum and collecting institution. Students of ÈâÈ⴫ý are given preference, though applicants from any accredited college or university are welcome to apply.

Internships take on one of several specialized tracks at the ZMA:

Curatorial Internship: Aid with exhibition research and development.
Museum Education Internship: Work on educational programming for college level and K-12 outreach. One Museum Education Internship may available per semester at the discretion of supervising staff. 
Registration/Collection Management Internship: Assist with the management and care of the permanent collection. Duties include cataloging, art handling, inventory, rehousing, and research. Candidates must have strong research and organizational skills.
