Job Summary
ÈâÈ⴫ý is now accepting applications for a twelve-month, non-tenure track Acquisitions and Licensing Librarian and Librarian Assistant Professor or Librarian Associate Professor faculty position in the University Libraries that begins as early as March 2025. Rank is determined at the time of hiring and will be commensurate with experience. This position is for work to be performed in the state of Georgia and will work within the Resource Strategy and Management Unit of the University Libraries.
Responsibilities- Coordinate the acquisition, renewal, and maintenance of electronic database package subscriptions, individual serials, and standing orders
- Create and update ledgers. Monitor expenditures in the ILS and KSU fiscal systems and create reports as needed.
- Provide updates at monthly Library Budget Meeting and Unit Meeting
- Negotiate license agreements for the University Libraries' electronic resources.
- Serve as the University Libraries' primary contact between vendors and other campus entities such as the KSU Office of Fiscal Services and the KSU Division of Legal Affairs.
- Work with the Collections Strategy Librarian on purchasing decisions and future direction of the collection development
- Develop and maintain partnerships with KSU units, departments, centers, etc. that support student and faculty research efforts and collection development. Support university research teams' activities and initiatives.
- Maintain working knowledge of emerging trends in librarianship, acquisitions, and collection development
- Engage in service to University Libraries, the campus, and/or the profession.
- Participate in scholarship, research, and/or creative activity. Contribute to the development of the library profession and/or subject-specific discipline through scholarship, presentations, and publications.
Because our libraries are open 7 days a week, and in the evenings, this position will occasionally be required to work during these times to serve the needs of the students. This position will work on both the ÈâÈ⴫ý and Marietta campuses.
Required Qualifications
- An earned terminal degree, or the foreign equivalent, appropriate to a contemporary research-intensive library, such as an MLIS, or other related discipline is required.
- Excellent presentation, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in an academic library
- Demonstrated knowledge of academic library databases and their coverage
- Familiarity with negotiating licenses and managing e-resources
- Experience in maintaining effective relationships with vendors and participating in consortia purchasing agreements
- Strong project management skills and attention to detail
- Experience with the processes of procurement, contracts, or licensing

Job Summary
ÈâÈ⴫ý is now accepting applications for an administrative faculty position as a non-tenure track Librarian Professor and University Librarian of the University Libraries of ÈâÈ⴫ý with a preferred start date of July 1, 2025. This is a twelve-month contracted position. This position is for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.
Responsibilities
The University Librarian (UL) is the chief administrator for the University Libraries, which include the Horace W. Sturgis and Lawrence V. Johnson Libraries at KSU. The UL serves as the advocate for the University Libraries and has the ability to build strong partnerships and programs on and off campus. The UL reports directly to the Associate Vice Provost, who oversees University Libraries; and Museums, Archives & Rare Books.Minimum responsibilities include:
- Provides visionary leadership and oversight of the University Libraries including budget, assessment and reporting, supervision of faculty and staff, strategic planning, and supporting student and faculty success and research.
- Communicates effectively and transparently with faculty, staff, students, and campus and community partners to establish a vision and goals that support KSU's mission and new Strategic Plan to build the University's reputation for national prominence.
- Ensures sound fiscal management of the University Libraries resources.
- Facilitates the integration of resources, seeks new opportunities, engages with the community, collaborates with University units, and fosters a vibrant learning community.
- Partners with the Office of Research, UITS, and other related units supporting research initiatives across campus with the goal of promoting national prominence.
- Oversees the University Libraries' contributions to program and University assessment initiatives and regular evaluations of the University Libraries collections and services in the face of rapid changes in technology and knowledge creation.
- Advocates for student success by advancing a welcoming, service-oriented environment and maintains collections and services that advance teaching, learning, research, and creative activity.
- Develops strong partnerships with colleges and other units on both the ÈâÈ⴫ý and Marietta campuses, as well as with students, faculty, staff, community organizations, and other institutions regionally and nationally.
- Leads or serves on division and university committees and task forces to promote the University Libraries and KSU and participates actively in local, state, and national library organizations.
- Fosters an environment of collegiality, collaboration, compliance, transparency, and respect.
- Enforces policies and regulations adopted by the USG and KSU.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- A terminal degree, or the foreign equivalent, in a library science discipline, or related field, with an academic background and appropriate credentials to be a Librarian Professor in the University Libraries.
- 10 years of professional experience in an academic library or related institution.
- 5 years of strong executive leadership and successful management experience.
- Demonstrated record of successful stewardship of fiscal and technological resources.

Job SummaryThe Metadata Specialist is responsible for the production, oversight, and editing of bibliographic records using Library of Congress classification and appropriate metadata schema for monographs and other library resources as needed. Responsibilities also include verifying, creating, correcting, and maintaining bibliographic records and holdings in the library's integrated library system and/or library services platform. This position is also responsible for assisting the Cataloging and Metadata Librarian as needed with training staff in new or complex cataloging procedures. Most of the work of monographs cataloging requires the use of OCLC (Online Computer Library Center), an international automated bibliographic utility, as well as the library's relevant metadata systems. Employees at this level exercise a general degree of authority, independence and initiative in setting priorities, decision making, or problem solving that requires the use of discretionary judgment.
ResponsibilitiesKEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reviews and edits metadata through copy cataloging of purchased ebooks, print books, and other library resources in different formats with some degree of independence, utilizing international standards, codes, and practices
- Creates, updates, and maintains holding and item records. Processes library resources in a timely manner
- Activates electronic portfolios for electronic books in the library¿s catalog to enable access. Maintains bibliographic records for specific electronic collections, including licensed demand-driven collection
- Builds and updates library data in batch, utilizing appropriate software
- Imports files of records from vendors or other sources into the library database
- Performs batch updates and changes to descriptive and subject metadata to maintain the library catalog, including withdrawals, item status updates, and location changes
- Provides cataloging and metadata statistics or reports as needed
- Assigns classification numbers to records as needed using the Library of Congress Classification Schedules. Resolves call number conflicts during the cataloging process and makes adjustments as needed
- Trains and supervises student assistants in Technical Services work as needed
- Participates in planning, procedure development and implementation, and policy and decision-making processes for the unit and for the department and library as required
- Resolves and responds to metadata issues reported via online form, library help desk, and library staff. Cross-trains on receiving and processing serial issues and standing orders and corrects serial metadata records as needed
