Admission Criteria

MAcc admissions are granted to candidates showing high promise of success in our full-time, daytime, nine-month program. The MAcc program is designed for students with an undergraduate degree in accounting from an accredited institution. Students should demonstrate their ability to successfully juggle course work and CPA Exam preparation. Your letter of interest should discuss your short- and long-term career goals and provide examples of your ability to effectively function in a fast-paced, challenging environment.

  • Optional Letters of Reference (up to two)
  • Graduate Management Admissions Test (waiver offered to students with a 3.5 Overall GPA or 3.6 Accounting GPA from AACSB-accredited institutions)**

*International applicants have additional requirements (see Graduate Admissions).

**GRE is not accepted.

Prerequisites

All applicants should have 20 hours of upper-level accounting (beyond the first two principles courses) and 24 hours of general business courses (CPA requirements). As part of your accounting hours, you must successfully complete the following accounting courses prior to beginning the program:

  • Intermediate Accounting I
  • Intermediate Accounting II
  • Accounting Information Systems
  • Taxation
  • Auditing and Assurance

Once your materials are complete, we review them and issue a decision regarding whether you will move to the interview stage within two weeks.

Tuition and Aid

Approximate cost of the MAcc program:  $24,680

Tuition includes the following:

  • Books and course materials
  • CPA Exam preparation materials
  • CPA Exam sitting fees (one time per section)
  • Job placement materials
  • Meals on all class days
  • Professional executive coaching
  • Peer mentoring
  • Executive suite access to team meeting rooms
  • Special events such as professional meetings, conferences, and case competitions

Scholarships

Our School of Accountancy awards about $250,000 in scholarships and aid to students each year. All MAcc students who are accepted to our program before the KSU scholarship deadline of March 1 and have applied for scholarships have received some scholarship money. Candidates should apply for scholarships as soon as they are accepted to the program. Apply at KSU Scholarships.  

Graduate Assistantships 

If you are interested in a Graduate Teaching or Research Assistantship (GTA or GRA) at ÈâÈ⴫ý State, be sure you indicate your preference on your application. GTA and GRA positions are usually awarded in the spring before our August start date. Assistantships provide a stipend and a partial tuition waiver. See for more details.
