Raspberry Pi Teachers' Workshop

The College of Computing and Software Engineering announces a free, one-day Raspberry Pi workshop for K-12 teachers. The workshop includes a Raspberry Pi 4 Model B single-board computer and parts kit for you to use in your classroom.  The workshopa held  on KSU's Marietta Campus.  Application is competitive and attendance is limited to 24 at each session.

We believe that computing and digital making are for everyone regardless of their background or prior experience. This one-day workshop provides educators with the knowledge and skills they need to teach computing with confidence, creativity, and excitement. If you’re an educator interested in bringing digital making and computing to your learners then this workshop is for you!

What is a Raspberry Pi?

The Raspberry Pi is a $45 computer you can hold in your hand. You can use it to teach programming, but it’s also literally open, so you can do things like attach LEDs, sensors, and even motor controllers, then control them with code.  (You'll need more than the computer itself.  A complete kit costs $80-100, and you will also need monitors and keyboards.)

What will we do?

You will complete a "guided experimentation" project with a Raspberry Pi, then design and complete a project of your own.  Finally, you will work with others to complete a group project of your own design.  This is your opportunity to apply creativity to see the ways you can use these skills in your classroom.  At the conclusion of the workshop, you will take the Raspberry Pi and parts kit home to use in your classroom.  The workshop slides and handouts will be available for you to modify and use in your classes.  Support material is available on the KSU and Raspberry Pi Foundation web pages.
