Our undergraduate advisors provide important information about academic advising for undergraduate students in the College of Computing and Software Engineering (​CCSE) at ÈâÈ⴫ý State. They assist with the following Majors and Minors: Computer Game Design & Development, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, and Software Engineering. You can arrange to speak with a CCSE academic advisor in person, by phone, or via
virtual appointments on Microsoft Teams. Also, you can visit our office during drop-in
hours if you have a quick question.
Both incoming and current undergraduate students are encouraged to get guided feedback
for various services through a one-on-one advising appointment including selecting
or changing a major, adding a minor, resolving prerequisite and test score registration
errors, removing registration holds, and requesting repeat course overrides. We look
forward to helping you navigate your educational path within the dynamic world of
computing and software engineering!
As you think about transferring to ÈâÈ⴫ý State, your seamless transition into the
CCSE community is of great importance to us! Whether you're on a path to complete
your bachelor's degree or looking for a new academic home with prospective opportunities,
ÈâÈ⴫ý State stands ready to equip you with the resources and support necessary
for your transfer and future success. If you've graduated from high school and have
accumulated at least 30 semester hours or 50 quarter hours of transferable college
credit, we encourage you to apply as a Transfer Student and embark on a transformative
journey with a degree from CCSE.

Advising Appointments
Advising appointments can be held in-person, via phone, or via Microsoft Teams virtual
calls.
Appointments are made on a first come, first serve basis.
Appointments outside of office hours are made on a case-by-case basis.
Double Owl Pathways affords undergraduate students the opportunity to obtain their
undergraduate and graduate degrees faster and at a significantly lower cost than if
they pursued each degree independently. By bundling both degrees into Pathways, highly
motivated and committed students will graduate sooner than their peers and with a
head start on their careers. KSU has a variety of Pathways to choose from with more
being added. You can find the pathways specific to CCSE below!
Denise holds an Associate Degree in Paralegal Studies from Rochester Business Institute, a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Human & Community Services from SUNY Empire State College of New York and Master of Science Degree in School Counseling from Capella University. She is a Licensed School Counselor in the State of New York & Georgia.
Born and raised in the New York area, Denise moved to the Atlanta area in 2016. Prior to joining the College of Computing and Software Engineering, she has had various roles in Real Estate, School Counseling and Academic Advising which has laid a solid foundation for her career as an Academic Advisor.
Overall, Denise enjoys helping students highlight their strengths and identifying the unique needs of each student to guide them where they will thrive socially, emotionally, and academically. In her personal time, she enjoys watching and playing sports, vacationing, and spending time with family.
Christina earned her Bachelors of Science in Psychology from Georgie College & State
University.
She is not new to the higher education space. It was at her alma mater where she found
her love for student success and achievement. In her previous roles, she has served
as a tour coordinator, family support advocate, and researchers on the impact of student
leadership.
Through her personal experiences as a student and administrator, Christina is able
to connect with student and meet them where they are.
Christina views herself "as a bridge, connecting people to resources and information"
Outside of work, Christina enjoys cooking, baking, and reading. She is a cat mum to Gracie-Jean, a mackerel tabby who loves to cuddle and watch TV.
Eric is a native of Georgia. He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Management and Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degrees from Clayton State University. He is now pursuing a Master of Education in Educational Leadership with a concentration in Higher Education and Student Affairs at ÈâÈ⴫ý. He is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated.
As a traditional student, Eric is able to connect with and understand the concerns of students because he was previously in their position. He wants students to come to college, gain college life experience, build connections, and, most importantly, graduate. Always remember to finish what you started.
Outside of work, Eric enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Deikyn (Dee-ken) received her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Columbus
State University. Deikyn is currently enrolled in her Master of Public Administration
program at the University of Georgia where she plans to attend law school in the future.
Deikyn comes to us from Columbus State University where she was a financial aid counselor. She has previous experience as an Orientation assistant, Residence life assistant and Student recreation assistant. Deikyn loves the environment of higher education because of the daily impact she makes for her community and students. Her plan is to continue to bring positive energy and smiles to all that she encounters.
Deikyn prides herself on building relationships that present effective communication and results. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her son and being a dog mom. She also enjoys binge watching shows and reading. Deikyn is excited to be a part of the Owl community and cannot wait to meet you!
Aaron has worked as an advisor for over 4 years at Georgia State and Clayton State
University. Aaron is an alumnus of ÈâÈ⴫ý and holds a Bachelor
of Business from the world-renowned Coles College of Business. Aaron also holds a
Master of Public Administration degree from Clark Atlanta University. He strives to
be a soundboard for students and assist them as they explore their major & take ownership
of their academic goals. Outside the office, Aaron enjoys nature trails and traveling,
reading history books, live performances of any kind, and exploring museums.
Mark is a native of Trinidad and Tobago. He is a proud alumnus of ÈâÈ⴫ý
where he graduated with a B.B.A in Business Management. He continued his education
at Georgia Southern University where he obtained his Masters in Higher Education Administration.
Mark’s education tenure started in 2010 where he was the first Orientation Coordinator for KSU’s Orientation Programs. He is best known for his work with the rebranding of the program, Ignition, that lasted from 2013 to 2019. He truly has a love for his home institution and appreciates the opportunity of being able to give back to an entity that has helped shape who is today.
Mark’s passion is helping build leaders by cultivating an environment that will challenge the status quo so they can become extraordinary leaders in their communities. His goal is to ensure that students feel not only a sense of pride for ÈâÈ⴫ý, but also feel that this the right fit for their higher education journey.
From 2012 to 2021, she worked in retail for Godiva Chocolatier, Inc in multiple positions
and locations. During her time as a Retail Boutique Manager at Godiva she trained
and led successful teams of up to 15 sales associates.
As a former KSU student, Shanoè understands the many stressors and demands that current students may encounter in their courses, extracurricular activities, employment, etc. As a result, her advising strategy will focus on collaborating with her students to create graduation plans that prioritize balance and utilizing resources.
Camille received a dual Bachelors in Business Administration degree studying Managerial Sciences and Risk Management/Insurance from Georgia State University. She has been in the field of academia for over 10 years and has been in advising for seven of them. Camille is an avid reader and states, “I could get lost for hours in the pages of a really good book.â€
In addition, Ms. Stringer has found a love for gardening. Being able to see something so beautifully grand grow from a tiny little seed continues to amaze her. She’s taken what she learned from gardening and has applied it professionally to how she advises students. Each seed requires a different combination of soil, light, and water. In the same notion, each student requires a different combination of guidance, encouragement, and empowerment.
Camille tends to use a more holistic approach when advising students. She likes to
focus on the student as a whole person with her goal being able to help every student
succeed academically. Actively listening to students, finding out what their needs
are, and providing them with the tools they need to succeed while also planting bits
of encouragement and wisdom throughout is what she has found to be beneficial to her
students.
Montreal is a Georgia native. He received his Bachelors in Psychology from Albany
State University and also holds a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree
in Marketing. In his spare time, he enjoys graphic design, photography, and Food Network
shows. In addition, he has a hidden talent of quoting monologues, dialogues, and scenes
from the Twilight saga.
The biggest advice he would give to students is to enjoy the college experience. This
is arguably the best time of your life & you will create so many memories, long-lasting
relationships, and learn how to deal with stress levels. Pace yourself because this
educational journey is amazing.
Finally, he prides himself on exceptional customer service. “I understand students are leaning on me for guidance, information, and resources. I will be as transparent as possible for you gain insight on the process of being successful in the classroom. My approach is from a Developmental Advising standpoint. Therefore, my techniques will assist you in movement and progression.â€
Le'Cha Tyson is a former Virginia native. She has received her Bachelors degree in
Marketing from Georgia Southwestern State University. Prior to her moving to Georgia
and joining KSU she worked for Northern Virginia Community College for over 12 years.
I believe in holistic advising, and providing a safe space for students to share their
thoughts fears and goals. My favorite saying is " I am a firm believer that you must
share so that I can help you to the best of my ability".
Miles is a North Carolina native, Georgia transplant. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Winston-Salem State University and a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. A self-proclaimed student success advocate, Miles has over 15 years of experience working in higher education. His advice to students is to be active, engaged and take time to enjoy the journey.
