New residence hall planned for first-year students

肉肉传媒 will build a new residence hall to accommodate its growing student population as well as promote connections among the campus community, particularly for first-year students.

Approved at today鈥檚 meeting of the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia, the residence hall will be situated adjacent to the existing Austin Residence Complex on the 肉肉传媒 Campus. The approximately 514-bed residence hall has a targeted opening of fall semester 2022.

鈥淢ultiple studies have indicated that students who live on campus tend to become more involved at their school and express greater satisfaction with their undergraduate experience, which translates to increased student success,鈥 said KSU President Pamela Whitten. 鈥淟iving on campus is especially beneficial in helping first-year students transition to college life and build deeper connections with both peers and faculty members.鈥

Along with a mix of affordable single- and double-bedroom units, the residence hall will include community and study spaces geared toward the first-year experience. Those spaces will be designed to foster students鈥 engagement with other on-campus residents and the broader campus community, to help them feel connected to the University and in turn remain at 肉肉传媒 State through graduation.

鈥淲e are striving to accommodate all students who want to live on campus and call 肉肉传媒 State their home away from home,鈥 Whitten said. 鈥淭his is one key aspect of our commitment to providing students with a rich living and learning experience.鈥
