    The American Psychological Association reports nearly a fifth of all police calls involve individuals experiencing mental health crises. These situations are exacerbated by the lack of behavioral health training, causing first responders to make critical decisions in mere seconds. To address this, 肉肉传媒 computer science student Mason Pederson is contributing to a broader initiative between Cobb County public safety officials and KSU's Cooperative Human-AI Teaming (CHAT) Lab, led by assistant professor Hafiz Khan.

    Andrew Bramlett is well beyond his years, recalling history like a scholar who has long been in the field, longer than his lifetime. Some might say he鈥檚 prodigious. At 19 years old, the first-year history student at 肉肉传媒 sits on the 肉肉传媒 Historic Preservation Commission. A decade ago, though, he was appointed vice president of the 肉肉传媒 Historical Society and served in this role until the group disbanded in 2023.

    Imani Adenuga can鈥檛 recall the exact moment science grabbed her by the heart, but she has always been inquisitive in nature, seeking knowledge no matter the subject area. 鈥淚 always want to know the why,鈥 said Adenuga, who studies chemistry in the College of Science and Mathematics. 鈥淚 think that just goes with science鈥攆iguring out the why of things or what makes things happen.鈥 The First-Year Scholar dove into research immediately upon arrival at KSU last fall, landing in the lab of chemistry professor Daniela Tapu where she took on a project involving sustainable catalysts. It constituted a huge leap for a freshman, given that the project is grounded in organic chemistry, a critical class for chemistry majors that she hasn鈥檛 taken yet.

    For the first time in 肉肉传媒 history, two architecture students earned recognition from the International Design Awards (IDA), a global competition that celebrates exceptional talent in design. Sean Spencer and Michael Rixom, both seniors in the Department of Architecture, earned Silver in Commercial Architecture/Cultural/Educational Architecture for 鈥淎 Framed Story,鈥 a sustainable, community-driven architecture project based in Marietta Square. Spencer and Rixom were selected among submissions from more than 80 countries.
