Grant will support programming to encourage better driving behaviors
The office of at 肉肉传媒 recently received a grant totaling more than $22,000 to participate in the sponsored by the Governor鈥檚 Office of Highway Safety (GOHS). The grant is the 12th award for KSU鈥檚 Health Promotion and Wellness, which resides in the .
Working with colleges and universities through the state, the GOHS uses strategies such as peer education, providing educational speakers to schools, and encouraging schools to develop creative, innovative techniques to reduce young adult crashes, injuries and fatalities in their communities.
鈥溔馊獯 State is a returning grantee for us and we鈥檙e excited to see what 2019 brings both for their students and young drivers across Georgia,鈥 said GOHS Communications Manager Robert Hydrick.
肉肉传媒 State will coordinate events such as impaired driving prevention programs, including social norming promotion. TIPS University Training will also be provided to help students learn specific strategies and skills for intervening in alcohol-related situations that they may encounter. Programming often surrounds events such as National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week and Safe Spring Break. Programs involve collaborations with the campus Greek community, student athletes, residential student communities, campus police and counseling services.
The grant runs Oct. 1, 2018 through Sept. 30, 2019.
