肉肉传媒 State named a Bicycle Friendly University

On-campus bike lanes, parking and off-campus trails cited

In recognition of 肉肉传媒 State鈥檚 commitment to and achievements in promoting and enabling safe, accessible bicycling on campus, the University has been designated as a by the League of American Bicyclists.

The League, which is a national organization dedicated to creating safer roads and stronger communities, has awarded 肉肉传媒 State the Bronze Award. This is the first time University has applied for this recognition.  

In awarding KSU, the League noted the University鈥檚 infrastructure planning for street closures to minimize traffic in core campus areas, creation of on-campus bike lanes and ample bike parking, and commitment to improved connectivity to access to an extensive countywide trail network that includes the trails at Rottenwood Creek and Noonday Creek.

Bicycle Friendly University

KSU鈥檚 bicyclists also have access to a comprehensive range of services, including free safety checks and adjustments, through the University鈥檚 Department of Sports and Recreation . In addition to tune-ups and fix-it stations, cycling classes are offered, and students may borrow bikes for a few days or an entire semester. Access to the bike rental program also is available on the Marietta Campus.

The , the , and the were instrumental in 肉肉传媒 State鈥檚 award application. The three offices created the , which works to foster effective coordination on bike and pedestrian programming and infrastructure.

鈥淐ongratulations to 肉肉传媒 for its inclusion in the select class of 45 new and renewing Bicycle Friendly Universities nationwide,鈥 said League Executive Director Bill Nesper.

鈥淭he standards for attaining these awards are very high and require deliberate, determined efforts to earn them,鈥 Nesper said. 鈥淯niversities and colleges are in a unique leadership position to help encourage and enable people of all ages鈥攅specially young adults鈥攖o adopt healthy, sustainable habits that can benefit them throughout their lives.鈥
