KSU鈥檚 Southern Polytechnic College of Engineering and Engineering Technology responds to regional demands
In an effort to meet the growing demands in the region, 肉肉传媒 will soon offer an online graduate degree in . The new Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering was approved April 18 by the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia.
鈥淭his is an exciting time for the as we continue to expand our portfolio of degree offerings,鈥 said Thomas Currin, dean of the College. 鈥淭alented professionals will benefit from our rigorous curriculum taught by industry-experienced faculty. It is our goal to ensure that the engineering workforce is technologically prepared to solve future real-world challenges.鈥
肉肉传媒 State鈥檚 engineering college offers 14 undergraduate degree programs, including a bachelor鈥檚 degree in mechanical engineering, as well as six graduate-level degree programs. The new M.S. in Mechanical Engineering degree will add to the college鈥檚 graduate offerings, which encompass master鈥檚 degrees in civil engineering, systems engineering and applied engineering.

These learning experiences are embedded in highly relevant courses designed for working professionals,鈥 said Elke Leeds, associate vice president of Technology Enhanced Learning and associate professor of Information Systems. 鈥淏y offering this master鈥檚 degree in an online platform, 肉肉传媒 State is able to serve individuals throughout the state and region, who want to broaden their knowledge and develop highly sought-after skills in advanced engineering.鈥
The fully online degree program will offer coursework in advanced manufacturing, thermodynamics, solid and fluid mechanics, engineering design, dynamics and vibrations, and engineering heat transfer.
Today鈥檚 engineering professionals are expected to meet increasing professional licensure requirements, and with an aging workforce nationwide, this new degree program will support engineering professionals who desire thriving job opportunities in manufacturing, aerospace, biomedical, power generation, energy, automotive, robotics, and thermal systems industries.
The new degree program will begin in fall 2017.
