Student Affairs鈥 awards honor more than three dozen

肉肉传媒 State鈥檚 Division of Student Affairs named Myles Cardenas Student of the Year during the Second Annual Awards Ceremony. Cardenas was recognized along with more than three dozen individuals and organizations from among more than 100 nominations during the event, which was held at the new KSU Dance Theater in the Joe Mack Wilson Student Center on the Marietta Campus.

The event recognized the outstanding achievements of 肉肉传媒鈥檚 student organizations and individuals for the 2016-17 academic year. Executive Director of Career Planning and Development Ana Baida chaired the Student Affairs Awards Committee.

Cardenas, a senior from Conyers, is majoring in construction management. He was president of the 肉肉传媒 . At the competition at the  in Orlando in January, the team placed first in the nation at the NAHB Student Chapters Residential Construction Management Competition for four-year programs.

鈥淭he competition was a lot of work, but was the most rewarding experience that I have ever been a part of,鈥 said Cardenas, who also received the NAHB鈥檚  this year. 鈥淚 am extremely proud of every single person who has been involved in the chapter over the years, and those who have graduated from the university and still dedicate time to come back and help the chapter in any way they can.鈥

鈥淢yles Cardenas is an exceptional KSU student and contributes in a variety of ways to improve campus life for his fellow students,鈥 said Kathy Alday, assistant vice president for student affairs.

鈥溔馊獯 State would not be as great an institution as it is without the hard work and dedication every day of our students, student organizations, faculty and staff members, and community members,鈥 Alday said.

In addition to Student of the Year, awards were presented to Advisor of the Year and Organization of the Year.
