Inspired by the lessons from their own fathers to work hard and help others, Rick and Julie Bennett have established an endowment to provide scholarships for many 肉肉传媒 students in the years to come. Rick, a 肉肉传媒 State Foundation trustee, and his wife Julie have committed $100,000 for the William N. Bennett and Jule Blair Memorial Scholarship, named after their fathers, to assist KSU Journey Honors College students pursuing accounting degrees.

In a Savannah movie theater 22 years ago, a 4-year-old girl sat, entranced, watching the blockbuster Titanic with her mother. It was an event that would make a lasting impression on her life and career. 鈥淚t was the first movie I sat through and watched the whole thing 鈥 and it was a long movie 鈥 not saying a single word,鈥 said Katie Boaen, now working in the prop and set decorating departments of Georgia鈥檚 thriving film industry. 鈥淚 was captivated by it at that age 鈥 the scale of everything coming together; I remember it to this day.鈥 Boaen is 鈥渁 huge movie buff鈥 who has always liked storytelling and mixing it with art. She graduated from the Joel A. Katz Music and Entertainment Business Program at 肉肉传媒 in 2018. Her end goal was to turn a hobby into a profession and earn some income in the process.

Student entrepreneurs soon will have more opportunities to innovate and grow their businesses with financial support from technology entrepreneurs Sid and Sophie Mookerji. A $120,000 gift from the couple will establish the Mookerji Innovation Fund in 肉肉传媒 State鈥檚 Robin and Doug Shore Entrepreneurship Center. Focused on executing technology innovation and ideas, the new fund will provide an investment and early stage guidance for 12 small business and startups founded and run by KSU students and alumni.

Doug and Robin Shore have developed a close relationship with 肉肉传媒 State through two decades of supporting the University, including funding several scholarships, serving on advisory boards, visiting KSU鈥檚 educational site in Italy and attending countless on-campus events. Their latest gift will support a group near and dear to Doug, the next generation of entrepreneurs.

As a successful information technology auditor for Atlanta-based Rausch Advisory Services, Megan Beeston Panella says that the professional mentorship she received at 肉肉传媒 was critical in helping her choose a career path. Now, four years after graduating a second time, Beeston Panella continues to return to campus to offer that same mentorship to others.

肉肉传媒鈥檚 Office of Research is hosting a one-hour web show every other Friday at 4 p.m. to showcase the varied research being conducted by KSU faculty members. 鈥淩esearch with Relevance鈥 spotlights 肉肉传媒 State researchers in a live interview followed by an interactive question-and-answer session with the virtual audience. This week鈥檚 episode features assistant professor of economics Greg Phelan and limited term assistant professor of economics Heidi Holmes, who are researchers in the Education Economics Center in the Coles College of Business.

肉肉传媒 and the University of Tennessee (UT), in collaboration with the Office of Naval Research, will launch a unique program training a cohort of Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) students at each institution in cybersecurity, data analytics and advance manufacturing.

Summer enrollment for graduate students at 肉肉传媒 increased more than 14 percent over last year, of which 6 percent are newly admitted and 24 percent are returning graduate students, according to data from the Graduate College. This increase represents the third consecutive year that enrollment in KSU鈥檚 graduate programs have grown. Over the past three years, including fall, spring and summer semesters, the University has experienced an average increase of 9 percent in graduate enrollment.
