Bachelor of Science in Interactive Design

The Bachelor of Science in Interactive Design provides you with an interdisciplinary, hands-on approach to developing the technical, theoretical, and problem-solving skills you’ll need to serve as interaction, user experience (UX), and user interface (UI) designers.

When studying for the interactive design degree, you’ll focus on:

  • The tools and techniques to create a compelling portfolio of interactive, screen-based designs.
  • Learning about design using problem-solving, goal-directed, and human-centered design approaches.
  • A cultural approach to design that situates understanding meaning within different contexts.
  • Honing soft skills -- being a good teammate, presentation skills, and explaining design work to diverse audiences.
  • Learning computational thinking and some front-end coding.

As an interactive designer, you’ll learn to focus on how people interact with your design and create products that give the best possible user experience. You’ll also have meetings with clients to discuss specifications, monitor product performance, and develop design plans using specialized computer software.

As an interactive designer, you’ll work closely with a larger team, including product development, engineers, marketing, and other stakeholders. To be a successful interactive designer, you’ll develop computer software, technical, communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
