Architecture Summer Design Workshop

We are thrilled to offer the Architecture Summer Design Workshop, a two-week immersive experience designed to provide you with an introduction to the world of architecture and the tools you will need to thrive as a freshman on campus. The workshop will run from July 15th to July 26th, with check-in to housing available from late Sunday afternoon on July 14th and check-out on Friday evening, July 26th, 2024.

During the workshop, you will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of events and activities designed to give you a well-rounded experience. Each morning will be devoted to exploring the campus and learning about the resources available to help make your transition to freshman life on campus as smooth as possible. You will also have the chance to meet with registered student organizations and get connected with student life at the university.

Afternoons will be spent in the architecture studio, where you will participate in hands-on design projects and gain valuable experience working collaboratively with other students. The afternoon studio sessions will run from 1:00-5:00, giving you ample time to develop your skills and create meaningful connections with other students and faculty members.

For students who have already indicated Summer matriculation (as their starting semester*), we also offer the option of taking our Summer Session ARCH1000 Introduction to Architecture Course for course credit (2-CH). As a similar but longer introductory course, it will run as a four-week Summer II session from 07/02/2024 - 07/30/2024, with some overlap in course content and activities. For housing or available dorms for incoming students, please verify with campus housing for available options. Students taking this course will then opt out of this course in the upcoming Fall semester, allowing them to take additional elective courses instead should they desire.

NOTE: For those wanting to take the ARCH1000 for course credit, entering students will need to set their starting matriculation time for Summer 2024 during the application and admissions process.
