Post-Graduate Nursing Certificates
Post-graduate nursing certificates, also referred to as post-master's nursing certificates, are obtained by nurses who have a master’s degree or higher and want to obtain formal education in a specialized area of practice. Post-graduate nursing certificates prepare nurses in advanced practice roles, such as nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, nurse midwives, and nurse anesthetists. Other post-graduate certificates prepare nurses to be nurse administrators or educators. Most post-graduate certificate programs can be completed in one or two years. Many require additional clinical hours, and ultimately their graduates are prepared to take national certification exams in the specialty area.
