Career and Academic Opportunities

The Psychology major affords students with excellent knowledge and research and field experience that will be beneficial to understanding the skills, knowledge, and values associated with the Master of Social Work. The Double Owl Pathway in Psychology - Master of Social Work is an ideal program for students desiring a career in a profession that is designed to “enhance human well-being and meet the basic and complex needs of people with a particular focus on those who are vulnerable, oppressed, and living in poverty. It is a profession with meaning, action, diversity, satisfaction, and a variety of options” (NASW).

Students who completed the Psychology undergraduate major and Master of Social Work at KSU can pursue advanced licensure and clinical practice, and/or doctoral studies. Employment options include but are not limited to Behavioral Analysis, School Social Work, Medical Social Work, executive leadership/management in nonprofit organizations and public agencies like the Department of Family and Children Services. Students enrolled in the Master of Social Work program have the option of seeking dual enrollment with the Master of Business Administration program.
