Career and Academic Opportunities

The Master of Arts in American Studies (MAST) prepares Interdisciplinary Studies (ISD) majors for a wide variety of careers in business, education, government, law, nonprofits, media, communications and marketing, publishing, and the arts. ISD and MAST students individualize their programs through focused study and practical, project-based learning tied to their own professional needs and interests, allowing them to build an impressive portfolio of skills and experience for potential employers. MAST graduates are innovative, flexible, and demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of American history, literature, culture, politics, and society in diverse and transnational contexts, making them attractive to employers around the world.

    Double Owl Admission Requirements 
    • Completed 60 hours towards a Bachelor or Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies
    • 3.00 GPA at KSU
    • Completed 18 hours in residence at KSU
    • Submit 1 copy of representative writing samples from one or more genres, not to exceed 25 pages
