Minor in Chemistry

The Chemistry Minor at KSU introduces you to essential uses of statistics, spreadsheets, and studying chemical reactions and how they apply to lab work. Additionally, you will look at the structure, properties, synthesis, and reactions of essential organic compounds using modern structural and mechanical theories.

Courses taken in Core Area F (lower division major requirements) may be counted as coursework in the minor. Courses taken to satisfy Core Areas A through E (general education) may not be counted as coursework in the minor. Students must earn a grade of at least 鈥淐鈥 in all course work applicable to a formal minor. When a student鈥檚 major and minor programs require the same courses, there is no limit on duplicate credit.

We require that a student develop the minor courses with a chemistry advisor and with the approval of the student鈥檚 major advisor. Biochemistry majors are excluded from earning a minor in Chemistry. At least 6 hours of chemistry must be taken at KSU to satisfy the minor upper-division requirement.

At a minimum, the following courses must be taken as part of a student鈥檚 course of study for a student to earn a minor in Chemistry.
